Nixon will seek re-election

Jason Nixon, United Conservative Party (UCP) incumbent MLA in the Rimbey-Rocky Mountain House-Sundre riding, says he plans to seek re-election in 2018.

Jason Nixon, United Conservative Party (UCP) incumbent MLA in the Rimbey-Rocky Mountain House-Sundre riding, says he plans to seek re-election in 2018.

Nixon, who is also his party’s House leader, was acclaimed as his party’s candidate in the constituency last week. He announced his plans to run again on May 31.

Should he be re-elected, Nixon says his plans would include working to rescind the provincial carbon levy.

“I know we can roll back the Notley Carbon Tax, eliminate the NDP’s structural deficit, and protect choice in education,” Nixon said in a press release issued last Thursday.

Nixon says in the run-up to the next election he plans to continue working in his constituency and at the provincial level.

“I will continue to focus on representing our region to the best of my ability, listening to you every step of the way,” he said. “At the same time, our team will begin crafting an election platform that reflects your vision for our province – not just for the next year, but also for the next 30 years.”
