DIDSBURY -- Residents got the chance to check out the Town of Didsbury's proposed new land use bylaw at an open house on March 13 at the train station.

In addition to reviewing the proposed changes, residents were able to talk with staff and members of council.

"What we've tried to do here is make it more clear and concise and more user-friendly for people who need to navigate through the land use bylaw," said Matthew Konowalchuk, manager of planning and development services.

"We're still collecting comments and we'll see when we can bring it forward. Ideally this spring, but there's no definitive date at this time."

Konowalchuk said most of the changes are to make the bylaw easier to read.

There are several changes proposed to the land use district, including: Residential - single detached (R1) is now Large lot residential district (R-LRG); residential  - General (R2) is now General Residential District (R-Gen); Commercial - General (C1) is now General Commercial (C-GEN); and Commercial - Highway (C2) is now Highway Commercial (C-HWY).
