DIDSBURY -- Didsbury RCMP are investigating the alleged theft of approximately half a kilometre of Telus cable that was stolen on May 29 from along Highway 22 near Twp. Rd. 301.
Staff Sgt. Chad Fournier said the cable is very thick and enclosed in a black outer casing with white markings on it consisting of the production year of 2015 and meter readings starting at 000062 and ending in 000573.
"We believe the cable was towed away from the scene and then likely sectioned before being loaded," said Fournier.
Anyone with information about the theft is asked to call Didsbury RCMP at 403-335-3382.
Police are also asking for the public's help with an incident involving an alleged pedestrian hit and run that occurred at approximately 6:35 a.m. on April 18 in Didsbury.
"A white GMC truck was travelling eastbound on 15th Avenue," he said. "The truck turned north onto 20th Street and struck a female pedestrian going eastbound through the crosswalk. The female moved out of the way of the truck and the driver left the scene."
Fournier said the driver is described as an elderly man with grey hair and no glasses.
"We are looking for anybody who has any information about this file or to come forward if you are the driver," he said.

Fournier provided the following information on recent charges in the district:
• On June 1 Frederick Rene Marshall, a 63-year-old male from Didsbury, was charged with impaired driving and with driving while over 0.08.
• On May 29 Kaley Lynn Tersigni, a 34-year-old female from Didsbury, was charged with impaired driving and with driving while over 0.08.
• Timothy Daniel Nicholson, a 39-year-old male from Rocky View County, was charged with robbery of the Fas Gas Station in Didsbury on Nov. 2, 2015.
• Ashley Rosemarie Leggette, a 34-year-old female from Didsbury, was charged with theft of a debit/credit card, possessing credit card data and two counts of using that stolen credit card from Jan. 2, 2018.
• On May 7 in Didsbury, Elaine Faye Labelle, a 61-year-old female from Didsbury, was charged with impaired driving.
