CARSTAIRS -- The Town of Carstairs handed out certificates of appreciation to local athletes who represented the area in provincial competitions.
The certificates were handed out before the regular council meeting on June 10 by members of council.
"Each year the Town of Carstairs recognizes individuals, teams and coaches within Carstairs that qualify to participate at a provincial level in their sport," said Mayor Lance Colby at the event.
"We would like to recognize and thank the coaches for their hard work, commitment and passion. You have promoted lifelong learning and skills that prepared our athletes to succeed."
Teams and individuals from the following groups were recognized: Special Olympics, gymnastics, Solstice synchronized skating, StarSkate and adult figure skating, female midget hockey, U-19 women's soccer, and legion seniors' mixed darts.
