Red Deer County has launched a second recent survey to gather public input about the local economy. In July the county released a survey seeking input on such things as future business development priorities.

A second five-question survey launched last week seeks input/comments from residents on future growth issues in the municipality.

• The first question on the new survey asking for comment reads: “Over the next year, I feel Red Deer County will grow.” Response can be strongly agree, agree, neither, disagree or strongly disagree.

• The second question asking for comment reads: “Looking forward five years to 2021, what is your view of the population level of Red Deer County and area (over the past five years, the population has increased 12.7 per cent).”

• The third question asking for comment reads: “How satisfied are you with Red Deer County as a place to live?” Responses can be not satisfied, somewhat satisfied, satisfied, very satisfied, or extremely satisfied.

• The fourth question asking for comment reads: “Which statement best describes your view regarding future growth in Red Deer County?” Responses can be I support less commercial growth, I support the current level of commercial growth, or I support more commercial growth.

• The fifth question asking for comment reads: “What portion of your purchases are made within Red Deer County, area villages and towns, and the City of Red Deer?”

The first survey released last month asked for comments on questions such as: “Which business development priorities do you feel are important for Red Deer County?”

Choices are as follows: attracting business to the community, helping existing business expand, assisting entrepreneurs and startups, marketing to external investors and businesses, attracting business to available industrial lands, attracting new residents to live in Red Deer County, and business management training.

The survey results will be used by council and administration to help guide future planning for the municipality.

Both surveys can be found at www.rdcounty.ca.
