INNISFAIL – Earl Dreeshen, the member of Parliament for Red Deer–Mountain View, announced Tuesday he will not be running in the upcoming federal election.
Dreeshen issued a media release Jan. 21 stating that after 17 years of serving the ridings of Red Deer and Red Deer - Mountain View he will not be letting his name stand as the Conservative candidate for Red Deer in the upcoming federal election.
“In recent months, I have written and spoken on the theme of change. The winds of change are here, and the time for a new Conservative government is fast approaching,” said Dreeshen in his release. “With the winds of change also comes the need for new voices, new perspectives, and new ideas.”
Dreeshen’s release went on to praise and thank his wife Judy, his children Megan and Devin and grandchildren Julian, Serena and Conrad.
“I always have appreciated your recognition and love of our Canadian flag and your understanding of my role of service that kept me away so frequently,” he said.
Dreeshen also thanked his “amazing” staff, and his constituents for electing him, adding he will “proudly” continue to serve them until the next federal election.
