INNISFAIL -- Chad Miller is the new Freedom Conservative Party (FCP) candidate for Innisfail-Sylvan Lake and he's running to give a voice for all blue-collar oilfield workers in the riding.

"Yes, that is right, the blue-collar family man oilfield worker. I am a regular Joe," said Miller, a married 38-year-old oil and gas consultant from Sylvan Lake who has three children. "I have relatability to a lot of people who are just like me. I am a guy who has been in the trenches alongside everyone else. I've been through recessions and depressions and have made a lot of sacrifices in this province for the sake of my family and the economy."

Miller was endorsed late last month by the FCP after previous candidate Clayton Knutson was asked to resign.

Miller said he voted for the UCP's Devin Dreeshen in last year's Innisfail-Sylvan Lake byelection but recently decided to run himself. He said he's always tried to have a good understanding of politics and felt it was time for him to step up and represent people who are just like him.

"I represent a lot of people and a lot of people can relate," said Miller, claiming he has more than 10,000 followers on his Oilfield Dads page on Facebook. "I am fighting for families, to help get them get back to work."
