DIDSBURY – The three-day Fuel-A-Palooza Motor Fest was another big success with thousands of residents and visitors packing the streets checking out all the classic vehicles.

In total, there were around 1,000 vehicles registered for the Show ‘n Shine, which took place Saturday in downtown Didsbury.

“It was a big success,” said Dana Munn, president of the Didsbury Car Club, which put on the event. “The weather was absolutely perfect. We filled the town from one end to another. We had a huge turnout of people.”

Munn said they even had cars set up in the grassy area by Hi Ho Gas and most of the side streets were filled as well.

"We had a full town," he said. "The streets were full. I have no way of knowing how many people there were in town physically. You couldn't walk a straight line through here. It was a huge success."

Munn said that although they want as many cars as they can get, "At the end of the day, whateve the number is, you fill all these side streets and you get people coming to Didsbury for the first time or maybe they come once a year, and you get them parked in front of all these brick and mortar businesses, giving them the opportunity to get some sales and introduce people to the town and let them know what a great place this is."

"That's our goal - to put Didsbury on the map," he said. "And I think we did a good job of that."

In addition to the Show ‘n Shine car show, there were several other events over the weekend including the cruise around Didsbury and up to Olds GM for a drive-in movie on Friday, 100 foot shootout on both Saturday and Sunday, and a cabaret on Saturday evening at the Didsbury saloon.

"The 100 foot shootout was a good success," he said. "We had some really good cars here; some quick cars. We gave out $600 in prize money at the shootout. We had the trials bikes back again doing a show by the 100 foot shootout. We had the dyno going down at Max's dyno services. We had the beer gardens and cabaret on 19th Street. All in all it was a great event. Everyone seemed really happy about the event."

Munn said that all the Didsbury Car Club members worked hard to get the event ready and organized. Munn also thanked all the people and businesses who sponsored Fuel-A-Palooza.
