Dozens of Sundre Petroleum Operator’s Group (SPOG) members took part in an emergency response tabletop exercise at the Sundre Golf Club on March 20.
The one-day exercise provided an opportunity to test the collective efforts of SPOG members for emergency response collaboration, to conduct a transfer of command to the responsible party, and to provide tradition/continual support to the responsible party until the emergency response has been completed, said SPOG executive director Tracey McCrimmon.
The exercise involved a mock pipeline leak under a nearby river.
As would happen in a real-life emergency, participants were divided into a number of sections, including operations, planning, logistics, finance and administration, and incident command.
SPOG is a collection of oil and gas companies with operations in the region. It also includes associate members such as Mountain View County.
