More than 50 Reed Ranch School students and their teachers visited Heritage Park in Calgary on June 14 to learn first-hand about Alberta's rural past.

Grade 1 student Trista Damon said she enjoyed the entire trip, including the stopovers at the vintage schoolhouse and other buildings.

“I liked going to the Prince House because it's a haunted house on Halloween,” she said.

Teacher Jaynee Gilbreath said the visit to Heritage Park was a great learning opportunity for students of all grades.

“We wanted to go somewhere where all the kids could have fun and learn at the same time,” she said. “It's a live museum with people in character so the kids can learn about history first-hand. There was something for everyone there.”

A kindergarten to Grade 6 school, Reed Ranch is located east of Olds.
