Sundre counts itself in

The Tomorrow Project is a long-term study following the health of Albertans and seeking to understand the causes of cancer, heart disease and other long-term health conditions.

The Tomorrow Project is a long-term study following the health of Albertans and seeking to understand the causes of cancer, heart disease and other long-term health conditions. The study gathers information to discover environmental, social, genetic and lifestyle links between health and disease.

This year in Alberta, an estimated 6,100 people will die from the various forms of cancer, and 16,200 new cases of cancer will be diagnosed. As Alberta's population grows and ages, those numbers are expected to increase. Participants in the study can play a part in gathering information to help prevent cancer and benefit future generations.

Albertans aged 35 to 69 who have never been diagnosed with cancer are invited to sign up for the study. You can choose to participate by mail, or by visiting a study centre. There is a permanent study centre in Calgary and a mobile centre that travels the province.

Congratulations to the people of Sundre for having the second-highest participation per capita in the Tomorrow Project, at 6.1 per cent (second only to Onoway at 11 per cent). I'd like to issue a challenge to the neighbouring communities to follow Sundre's lead and possibly surpass that 6.1 per cent. Please consider joining the Tomorrow Project and count yourself in for tomorrow.
