The Albertan’s long-awaited website re-naming is now complete.

TheAlbertan.com went live Tuesday, May 21, replacing its previous iteration, MountainViewToday.ca.

Months in the making, MountainViewToday.ca readers may have noticed the gradual transition to the newspaper name known for years, delivered weekly to mailboxes and homes in many Central Alberta locales.

TheAlbertan.com continues to educate, entertain and inform daily with local news concentrating on areas including Olds, Didsbury, Carstairs, Cremona, Sundre, Mountain View County, Bowden and Innisfail just as it did previously as the website has always been powered by The Albertan.

Readers will continue to also have the latest beyond local, provincial, national and world news and sports at their fingertips along with sponsored content, contests and the many other features the site boasts.

While it’s simply a name and URL change to better serve our community, readers might want to take this opportunity to check out areas of the website they may not be familiar with.

Readers will find listings of the cheapest gas prices, horoscopes and advice columns as well as a new, recently launched events calendar updated regularly. Answer a poll question or browse Discover Local, a comprehensive local business directory.

We’ve made the transition as seemless as possible. Readers who have MountainViewToday.ca bookmarked on their devices will be redirected to the new URL automatically. Those who want to update their device bookmarks can simply type in thealbertan.ca.

Anyone subscribed to one of The Albertan’s website newsletters -- whether daily news, contest or obituaries -- will continue to receive them.

We encourage everyone to check us out at thealbertan.com, the name and trusted news source readers have known for years.
