CARSTAIRS -- Local Trailer Park Boys fans are in for a treat on March 31 as Randy's Cheeseburger Picnic comes to Barley's Pub in Carstairs.

The show will feature Sunnyvale Trailer Park's resident park security guru Randy, played by Pat Roach.

The show will have a definite local angle as Sheldon Valleau of the Polyjesters is part of the show.

The Gazette recently talked to both performers over the phone. Randy said he was excited to return to Carstairs and is looking forward to some fun times, drinks and cheeseburgers.

"One thing we've been doing is going around and having cheeseburger picnics even in the wintertime because life is stressful and people need to let go sometimes," said Randy. "They come out to a Randy's Cheeseburger Picnic and we have some jokes and some songs, games, contests and prizes. We just have a good ol' party. Sometimes there are some drinkypoos too."

Randy said he has been to Carstairs before and really likes the area.

"I've done a show there before back in the day with my good ol' buddy Mr. Lahey," he said. "Mr. Lahey passed away about a year ago but I think he would be proud that Randy is taking the cheeseburger picnic on the road and trying to spread some laughs.

Carstairs is a great little town. I really like the trains. Some don't like it. I hear the train, I think industry and maybe it has cheeseburgers on it."

Randy said people attending will get a chance to hear some inside tales about the goings-on at Sunnyvale Trailer Park.

"Ricky is one guy I don't miss being around," he said. "He can be a problematic fellow. And J-Roc too. J-Roc is kind of mean. He calls me a cheeseburger eating walrus, an inflatable elephant. He thinks he's a rapper."

Randy said he had some great times at the trailer park even with all the shenanigans going on with Ricky, Julian and Bubbles and the rest of the residents.

"Those cameras are everywhere," he said. "They catch you doing all kinds of strange things."

Randy said he hopes to see everyone out at Barley's on March 31 for the picnic, which starts at 5:30 p.m.

"I'm really looking forward to it," he said. "Carstairs is a nice little place. I've got some good friends there."

Valleau said he ended up working with Randy and the show a few months after Mr. Lahey (actor John Dunsworth) passed away.

"Pat (Randy) called and asked if I'd do standup for him and then do the rest of the show with my ukelele and be part of the act," said Valleau. "I'd never done standup before and it was one of the most terrifying things in the world.

"I'm used to being on stage with the Polyjesters, but my brother, Jason Valleau, does most of the talking. Yeah, I'm the lead singer but he does the speaking."

Valleau, who grew up in Didsbury, said the Polyjesters will be getting back together soon after taking an extended break. The band will be playing the grandstand show at the Calgary Stampede.

"That's a huge honour as there are 25,000 people there every night that see the grandstand show," he said. "It's pretty cool that someone from the Didsbury-Carstairs area is a huge part of the music for the grandstand show this year."

Valleau met Randy and Lahey when both were touring Fort McMurray and had the same agent.

"It was their first tour," said Valleau. "We were veteran road warriors so we showed them the ropes. We became pretty close."

Valleau said the Trailer Park duo would stay in Carstairs with the Valleau brothers whenever they toured Western Canada.

"We would put them up," he said. "So they'd pop up everywhere around town. Someone would say on Facebook that they saw them around town."
