Portions of the Queen Elizabeth II Highway between Carstairs and Red Deer are reopening this morning after winter weather descended upon the region yesterday and continued through the evening.
Innisfail RCMP advised at 9:42 a.m. today that the Queen Elizabeth II Highway off ramp just south of Highway 11 is now clear.
"RCMP would like to thank the public for their patience during these poor weather conditions," police said in a news release.
Innisfail RCMP advised at 9 a.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 24 that the northbound lanes of the Queen Elizabeth II Highway, just south of Highway 11 were blocked.
"Four semi-trucks are currently stuck on the northbound off ramp due to the icy roadway and are unable to climb the hill," police said in a news release.
The public was asked to avoid the area and seek alternate routes of travel.
