Waste commission CAO let go

MOUNTAIN VIEW COUNTY - The chief administrative officer (CAO) of the Mountain View Regional Waste Management Commission (MVRWMC) has been relieved of his duties.

MOUNTAIN VIEW COUNTY - The chief administrative officer (CAO) of the Mountain View Regional Waste Management Commission (MVRWMC) has been relieved of his duties.

Pat Sliworsky was let go by the MVRWMC board of directors earlier this month after nearly four years as CAO.

Commission board chair Mary Anne Overwater said that she couldn't elaborate on the details of Sliworsky's dismissal.

"We're still going strong," said Overwater. "We've got excellent people in place looking after the facilities until we find out what next direction we're going to go."

Overwater said the board has already started the process of looking for a new CAO.

"Right now we're just in the process of determining what kind of replacement we want," she said. "We're looking into different options. We want to see the best fit we need in our office."

MVRWMC was formed in 2001 to coordinate the management and disposal of solid waste for the municipalities within Mountain View County (Mountain View County, the towns of Carstairs, Didsbury, Olds and Sundre, and the Village of Cremona).

The commission operates recycling centres and waste transfer stations in various locations throughout the county. The MVRWMC landfill is located two kilometres northwest of Didsbury. MVRWMC is the service provider in the area for the regular collection of household waste, commercial waste, rural waste and recycled material in these municipalities.
