Woman charged following pursuit

DIDSBURY - A 44-year-old woman has been charged following a police pursuit in the district. On Aug. 16, Sherrie Dawn Katerine Renaud, of no fixed address, allegedly stole a motor vehicle near Bieseker, said Didsbury RCMP Staff Sgt. Chad Fournier.

On Aug. 16, Sherrie Dawn Katerine Renaud, of no fixed address, allegedly stole a motor vehicle near Bieseker, said Didsbury RCMP Staff Sgt. Chad Fournier.

On Aug. 17 following a police pursuit across multiple jurisdictions, she was charged with dangerous driving, two counts of possession of stolen property, failure to stop for a police officer and driving while disqualified.

"There was a lengthy pursuit that started in Chestermere, came to CrossIron Mills mall and into Mountain View County," he said. "With the help of Red Deer RCMP police dog services, she was apprehended in a wheat field."

Police have recently charged a number of other people following unrelated incidents. Fournier provided the following information:

  • On July 5 in Carstairs, Gerry Harold Nation, a 63-year-old male from Carstairs, was charged with committing mischief and trespassing.
  • On July 15 In Didsbury, Thomas Arthur Horner, a 63-year-old male from Didsbury, was charged with theft under $5,000 for allegedly stealing a wallet.
  • On Aug. 1 in Didsbury, Robert Mark Shepherd, a 42-year-old male from Calgary, was charged with impaired driving and driving over 0.08.
  • On Aug. 2 in Didsbury, Jazmin Hailey Tyson, a 24-year-old female from Carstairs, was charged with impaired driving, failure to provide a breath sample, dangerous driving, resisting arrest, assaulting a peace officer, and two counts of mischief under $5,000.
  • On Aug. 2 in Didsbury, Kayla Mary-Jane Hoecherl, a 22-year-old female from Didsbury, was charged with assaulting a peace officer and obstructing a peace officer.
  • On July 22 in Carstairs, Darren Patrick Tkaczyk, a 51-year-old male from Carstairs, was charged with impaired driving and driving while over 0.08.
  • On July 25 in Carstairs, a 13-year-old male from Carstairs, who cannot be named, was charged with mischief under $5,000, theft under $5,000, mischief over $5,000 for damaging a camper trailer, another count of mischief over $5,000 for damage to a vehicle, and mischief over $5,000.
  • On July 2, a 16-year-old male, who cannot be named, was charged with breaking and entering, two counts of mischief under $5,000, and theft over $5,000. All charges came following a break-in at Hugh Sutherland School.
  • On July 8, a 17-year-old male was charged with committing theft under $5,000, mischief under $5,000 and theft over $5,000. Those charges also relate to a break-in at Hugh Sutherland School.
