DIDSBURY - Although she's just seven years old, Tayla Reinhardt is already a big helper with Didsbury Agricultural Society and its upcoming rodeo.

Reinhardt came up with the idea of having a colouring contest as part of the fun kids' events during the rodeo.

The Didsbury Fair and Rodeo will be held Aug. 17-19 at the ag society grounds.

"I thought it would be something fun for the kids to do at the rodeo," said Tayla. "My daddy volunteers with the rodeo. It's really, really fun. It has barrel racing."

Tayla not only came up with the idea for the contest, she will be acting as one of the judges.

She said she is looking forward to everything about the colouring contest. As for what she will be looking for, Tayla said, "imagination and creativity with the colours as well as neatness."

Tayla also helped put together the goody bags that each entrant will receive.

Carol Ward, coordinator for kids' entertainment at the rodeo, said she is expecting the colouring contest to be popular.

"Tayla has picked out a couple of pictures to colour prior to the rodeo or at the rodeo," said Ward. "Tayla came to me after last year's rodeo with the idea of having a colouring contest and prizes. So there are two age groups, three to five and six to 10, and there are two pictures to choose from."

The pictures will be available prior to the rodeo at Checkers Auto in Didsbury and at the Mountain View Gazette office in Didsbury, said Ward.

"The pictures will also be available at the rodeo at the kids' entertainment area," she said. "We'll have a table with crayons and markers so kids can colour them there as well, or at home beforehand if they wish. There will be a prize for each age group."
