Residents from around the region brought home medals from the recent Alberta 55 Plus Provincial Summer Games.

The Games were held June 16-19 in Peace River.

Area participants competed as part of the Zone 2 team.

Don James of Carstairs won two bronze medals in the 20-kilometre (K) and 40K cycling event.

Jim Tucker of Sundre was a member of the 55+ slo-pitch team which won silver.

Earl Markham of Didsbury obtained bronze in the woodwork category during the crafts/photography competition.

Swimmer Joanne Gunn, formerly of Carstairs, now of Calgary, won four gold medals: in the 50-metre (m) freestyle, 50m backstroke, 100m backstroke, and 100m individual medley.

These results were compiled from an activity director’s report, relayed to the Albertan.
