The Olds Bantam and Midget Stingers lacrosse teams both won gold during a tournament in High River April 26-28.
Both teams won all three preliminary games, thereby earning berths in the finals.
Bantam Stingers
On Friday, the Bantam Stingers shut out the host High River Heat 12-0. Then on Saturday morning, they hammered the Calgary Axemen 17-7 and beat the Cranbrook Outlaws 5-3 Saturday evening.
On Sunday, the Stingers downed the Sylvan Lake Buccaneers 8-4 in the gold medal game.
Midget Stingers
On Friday, the Midget Stingers trounced the Calgary Sabrecats 13-3. On Saturday morning, they thrashed the Calgary Raiders 11-3 and that night, they hammered the Calgary Knights 14-6.
The gold medal final on Sunday was a rematch between the Stingers and the Knights. The Stingers won, 8-4.
The bantam and midget Stingers are grateful to their coaching staff, parents and the High River Heat organization for a very successful tournament.
