MOUNTAIN VIEW COUNTY — A bicycle race west of Olds will be happening for a second straight year this weekend.
Organizer Jenn Proche says the Hay City Classic Road Race will be held May 13 from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., almost to the day of last year's event.
Proche says it will follow the same format and same route as last year, when the Hainstock Community Hall served as the headquarters for the event.
As of last week, 27 riders had signed up during the early bird registration period. Proche says that’s better than last year’s pace.
“Last year we had about 125 racers and hope to surpass it this year,” she wrote in an email to the Albertan.
Organizers had hoped to stage the race several years ago but it was postponed until last year, due to COVID restrictions.
