Broncos fall 99-81 in ACAC Championship opener

The Broncos men's basketball team was eliminated from medal contention at the ACAC Championship in Olds on March 3, falling 99-81 to the NAIT Ooks.

Broncos guard Wayne Tucker scored 24 points to lead Olds College but was held to just nine of 29 shooting.

Guard Shaquille Bedminster and forward John Dumetz also contributed 14 points apiece.

NAIT was the best team in the ACAC North at defending the three-point shot this season and limited Olds to just six of 23 from behind the arc.

The Ooks were led by guard Sebastian Cava, who went seven of 11 from the field for 24 points to go with 16 rebounds and five assists.

Guard Connor Dolson also had 22 points and nine assists.

Olds College held the lead once for a brief moment in the second quarter and only trailed 66-61 after three.

The Broncos play the Lakeland College Rustlers at 3 p.m. today (Friday, March 4) at the Ralph Klein Centre in the consolation round.
