OLDS — Two Calgarians took the boys and girls titles during the McLennan Ross Junior Open, held Wednesday, July 27 at the Olds Golf Club.
Seventy-three youth from across central Alberta participated in the annual tournament.
The junior boys champion was Mateo Kern of Calgary and the junior girls champion was Sophie Dhaliwal, also from Calgary.
Kern, who competed in the junior boys U17 category, fired a total of 70, seven strokes ahead of Ryan Badger, who had the second low gross.
Brady Weiss took low net honours in that category with a score of 69.
Dhaliwal, playing in the junior girls U17/U19 category, also shot 70, 30 strokes ahead of second low gross competitor Kate Pettersen. Edie Nicholson shot an 84 for the low net.
Reid Williamson finished first in the boys U19 section, having carded 72. Carson Conger had the low net with a score of 68.
Patrick McLarty carded 71 to top the boys U15 category. Vishra Misra shot 70 to obtain low net honours.
Jayden Arnold had the low gross in the boys U13 section, finishing with a total of 70 strokes. Daxton Siefried finished with a score of 64, getting the low net.
Aliyah Hull had the low gross the junior girls U15 category, having shot 81. Caryn Tardif took low net with a score of 73.
Justine Leon had the low gross in the junior girls U13 section, carding 76. Raylee Denton had the low net with a score of 72.
