OLDS — The weekend of Nov. 11 is looming large for the École Olds High School Spartans football team.
That’s when they’ll be playing an opponent from the south zone.
It was not not immediately clear who that opponent will be. Head coach Kent Lorenz says that will be determined in early November.
The Spartans finish their regular season with a game against Canmore during the Oct. 28 weekend.
The Spartans downed the Canmore Wolverines 50-20.
“The first half was close and in the second half the Spartans were able to pull away from Canmore,” Lorenz wrote in an email.
On Oct. 21, Drumheller beat the Spartans 46-35. It was a rematch of an earlier encounter, which the Spartans also lost, 35-10.
Then they have a bye during the Nov. 3 weekend, a chance to prepare for the playoffs.
“As a team we still are working on the basic fundamentals as we continue the season,” Lorenz wrote.
“In all three phases of the game we have room for improvement and need to become consistent in all four quarters.
“Moving forward, the Spartans are going to be working on fundamentals and skill development.”
