OLDS – It’s time once again for the annual Maple Leaf Junior Golf Tour (MJT) stop at the Olds Golf Course.
This year, the tournament will be held June 24 and 25, with a field of 103 elite junior players. They’ll have a chance to win a new Ford Escape if they can get a hole-in-one on the 12th hole.
And once again, a free clinic, organized by the MJT and taught by PGA professionals, will be offered to kids ages six to 12, on Monday, June 24.
They’ll receive lessons on driving, chipping and putting.
A free tee gift and refreshments will also be provided.
Equipment will be provided for those who don’t have any.
Two sessions will be offered: one runs from 4-5 p.m. and the other from 5:15-6:15 pm.
Kids interested in attending this clinic must register though. They can do so by emailing [email protected].
Spaces will be filled on a first-come-first-served basis for 50 kids only, “so best to sign up ASAP,” Maple Leaf Junior Golf Tour director of marketing and administration Elaine Denton wrote in an email.
“It's really a great deal,” Denton said during an interview with the Albertan.
“We've had so many kids come and try golf and then get into it and play on the little mini tour and then go on and play on our junior tour."
