DIDSBURY - The first Family Fun Gymkhana of the season on May 27 at the Didsbury ag society grounds saw great, sunny weather and a good turnout of all ages.
In total, there were 26 entrants from age three to 75 riding in several events including barrels, poles, keyhole, stakes, flags and a mystery event – which was the dollar bill race on Sunday.
The gymkhanas, which are run by the Didsbury Agricultural Society, go once a month through to the end of summer ending with the last one in September.
Volunteer organizer Shari Wareman said she was pleased to see all the horses and riders come out.
"It went really good," said Wareman. "We had 26 entrants, which is really good. We had a lot of adults, which is kind of unusual for us. But many mentioned that we are one of the only gymkhanas around that accept adult entries."
Wareman said the gymkhanas in Didsbury don't really have winners and are more just for fun.
"We keep track of our times and hold on to them and do some prizes at the end in September," she said. "We don't really have a winner or loser for each one. It's more for training."
The next gymkhana is slated for June 24.
