OLDS — Olds Grizzlys captain Noah Hackett has been named the Pizza 73 AJHL Player of the Week for the second time this month.
He earned that honour after leading the Alberta Junior Hockey League (AJHL) with seven points (three goals, four assists) from Oct. 18– 24.
The 19 year-old forward leads the team in scoring with 28 points (13 goals, 15 assists) and is tied for second in the AJHL scoring race.
Hackett, a third-year Grizzly originally from Ponoka, entered the week on a six-game point streak, but was held off the score sheet in a 4-0 loss to the Canmore Eagles on Oct. 19.
He quickly rebounded from that with a three-point game on Oct. 22, picking up three assists in a narrow 5-4 loss to the Camrose Kodiaks.
On Oct. 23, Hackett earned his eighth Viterra AJHL Star of the Game award with his second four-point game of the season.
The Grizzlys fell 7-4 to the visiting Spruce Grove Saints but Hackett had a hand in all four goals for Olds with a hat trick and an assist.
"I've had a couple of good linemates this year who really helped me out with kind of getting some points on the board," he said during an interview. "So yeah, obviously it's quite an honour to get those awards and hopefully we can just keep going."
