Olds Grizzlys head coach Joe Murphy is considering making a trade — for a 19-year-old defenceman ideally — by the Jan. 10 trading deadline.

The Jan. 10 junior hockey trade deadline is looming.

Will the Olds Grizzlys make a trade?

Head coach Joe Murphy is mulling over the idea.

"We have one card remaining so we have the option to do something, yes," he said during an interview with the Albertan.

"I'm looking to add a defenceman for depth in the back end.

"Whether or not that transpires or not I don't know, but yeah, there's lots of stuff moving right now, so we're hoping that we can get somebody with a little experience on the back end," he added.

"We have one card remaining but there's no guarantee we'll use it."

Ideally, Murphy said, he'd like to add a 19-year-old, as that guy would bring some much-needed experience to the Grizzlys, who have 16 first-year players.

"I'd like to have a 19-year-old. (But) it's tough," Murphy said. "I mean, good defencemen aren't being given away, right?

"We're developing ours, but others are looking to add for a very deep playoff run. So we'll see what the asking price is and go from there.

"But it's an interesting dance, that whole trade thing, in junior hockey."
