The Sundre tier 3 midget Huskies found their momentum late during provincials held in Provost over the weekend.

"We didn't do as well as we could have," said coach Brad Price.

The Huskies played three games, first facing off against Lamont, who won 8-3. Their second game against Jasper was another tough game, in which they were defeated 9-3. But the Huskies regrouped in their third game to come up with a big win.

"We just completely destroyed Battle River 11-2," the coach said.

Considering Battle River had won against Jasper the day before, the coach said he wasn't sure what had happened, but that "nothing clicked" during the first two games. But everything went perfectly in the third game, he added.

"If we had played that kind of hockey from the start, there's no doubt we would have been in it."

Despite the defeats, the coach said he told his players to keep their chins high.

"They are the Zone 6 champions," he said, adding many teams didn't even make provincials.

The Huskies begin the North Central Minor Hockey Association's league final on the road against Eckville tonight at about 8 p.m. The second game in the best-of-three series is on home ice this Friday starting at about 7 p.m., and is the last home game of the year. The third game, if it comes to it, will be played back in Eckville this weekend.
