Junior golfers from across the province converged on Innisfail and Olds to participate in McLennan Ross Sun Junior Tour tournaments.

It was a productive week for Innisfail golfer Cara Vanderham as she captured both tournaments held Aug. 8 at the Innisfail course and Aug. 9 at the Olds course.

Vanderham had previously qualified for the tournament championship being held at the Wolf Creek golf course at the end of August 2010.

Playing on her home course in Innisfail, Vanderham showed championship form as she fired a 75. Her victory was a walk-away as she outclassed the three female golfers in the field. Taking second place was another Innisfail golfer, Courtney Dickson, who finished the tournament by shooting a 92. A Balmoral golfer, Clare Mahon, placed third by shooting a 95.

In Olds, Vanderham continued her dominant play by capturing the tournament by carding a 77. In second place with an 88 score was Willow Park golfer Kenna Hughes. Meanwhile, Dickson finished the 18-hole tournament with a 92.

In the boys' division, there was also a double winner, as Willow Park golfer J.T. Kelly walked off both courses with a victory.

Playing in Innisfail, Kelly had an eagle eye, as he shot a 71 to capture the boys' division by two strokes over Matthew Chemago who tamed the course with 73. By firing scores of 75, Jeremy Rietze and Matt Codd finished in a tie for third.

Meanwhile, in Olds, Kelly's 74 was enough to gain the victory as he claimed a two-shot victory over Andrew Rados and Austin Biletsk, who both came into the clubhouse carding 77 scores. Olds golfer Spencer Dorowicz came in with 79. An Innisfail golfer, Devin Cooper, cracked the overall top 10 by carding an 81.

It has been a busy season on the links following the McLennan Ross Sun Junior Tour as they have been participating weekly since June.
