OLDS — The Olds College men's basketball program has recruited two key additions for the 2021-22 season.
Joining the team will be point guard Mobin Ali from Calgary and guard Shane Bullock from Brampton, Ont.
Last season, Ali played for St. Mary's University Lightning in Calgary, a key rival for the Broncos in the Alberta Colleges Athletic Conference (ACAC) south division.
Ali, who stands 6'0," played in all 21 ACAC south division games as a freshman during his lone season with Lightning.
While at StMU, he averaged six points, three rebounds and three assists per game and earned two starts.
"What Mobin brings to our program is stability and leadership,” said Broncos men’s head coach Harrison Corolis. “He's not only an extremely talented facilitator but can also get to the rim and score through contact.
“As a coach, you never have to question the effort he (Mobin) brings every day to practice. Mobin leads by example and will help our program reach its goals."
Before coming to the Broncos, Bullock, who stands 6'0," played high school basketball at Louise Arbour Secondary School (LASS) in Brampton.
While playing for the Eagles, Bullock averaged 11 points per game, adding seven assists and six rebounds per game.
In addition to playing for LASS, Bullock practiced and trained with the powerhouse Humber Hawks men's basketball program.
"Shane comes to us from the basketball hotbed Greater Toronto Area and having played against some of the top competition in the country during his high school days will be a huge benefit for our program,” Corolis said.
“Shane attacks the rim well but can also create his own shot. His ability to find the open man in transition is what we were looking for when we recruited him."
While at Olds College, both men plan to study business management.
