OLDS - Anders Eklund and Priyanna Ramdhani are the A&W Olds College male and female athletes of the week for Jan. 13-19.
Eklund, a first-year sports management student, provided 23 valuable minutes off the bench for the undermanned men's basketball team against Red Deer College.
With only nine available players, the Rocky Mountain House native came off the bench to notch eight points, three rebounds and one assist on Saturday, Jan. 18.
His play helped engineer a late 12-2 run that enabled the Broncos to erase a 14-point deficit and come to within four with four minutes to go.
Eklund has continued to lead the team in hustle plays, and his hard work on skill development is starting to pay off as he was awarded the player of the game in Saturday’s loss.
Ramdhani, a first-year badminton student-athlete, secured a bronze medal in women's singles at the ACAC tournament #2 when the Olds College sport management student-athlete defeated King's Cecilia Wolski.
The Peters Hall, Guyana native then had a strong mixed doubles tournament with partner Troy Morgan, during which they defeated Concordia's Jasleen Kuur and Tysen Tsen in a three-game battle.
