Sara Odersky and Clinton Armitage were named the senior female and senior male athletes of the year respectively last week during Olds High School's annual recognition of sports and extracurricular clubs at the school.
Other athletes who received coaches' awards included Brock Beal and Ben Godwin for cross-country running, Karsten Dagg and Tamara Sahli for golf and Tayler Lindstrom and Bryce Sweetman for curling. Morgan Lynch and Rachel Odersky received the coach's award for Grade 9 girls volleyball while Alex Kitchen and Kevin Spicer received awards for junior varsity boys volleyball. Beth Hamilton and Shaelyn Moritz received the coach's award for junior varsity girls volleyball. In senior girls volleyball, Becky Statchuk and Amber Wright received coach's awards.
In Grade 9 wrestling, DJ Neustaeter and Lauren Roblee received coach's awards, while Amber Maschke and Jeremy Zawalykut received awards for the senior team. Janelle Owens and Nicole Schultz received awards for Grade 9 girls basketball. Carter Cissell and Everett Huijzer received awards for Grade 9 boys basketball.
Emily Cowie and Erin Schultz earned the coach's award for junior varsity girls basketball while Josh Sears earned the honour for JV boys basketball. Brittany Hepp and Odersky took the coach's award for senior girls' basketball while Riley Chalack and Jared Hammer took the coach's award in senior boys' basketball. Cassidy Belsher and Quintin Thorburn received the coach's award for Grade 9 badminton while Tyler Maja and Odersky got the coach's award for senior badminton. Janelle Owens and Joya Reynar received the coach's award for Grade 9 rugby while Kim Richardson and Anika Reynar received the coach's award for senior rugby.
Chase Grenier and Eric Simpson received the coach's award for boys soccer while Sulem Monroy and Shaylin Muller received the coach's award for girls soccer. Brittany Hepp and Carson Jorgensen received the coach's award for the senior track and field team. Brodie Dirk and Anushree Patel received the coach's award for Grade 9 track and field.
Quade Smith and Zach Wild received the coach's award for football.
