OLDS — A couple of local athletes earned prizes in this past weekend’s annual Special Olympics Olds & District Bowling Tournament, but the overall trophy went to the Okotoks affiliate.

“They were a small group, but they did well,” chair Karen Mengersen said during an interview with the Albertan.

A total of 118 athletes from Olds, Drumheller, Airdrie, Wetaskiwin, Lacombe and Okotoks attended the tournament, held April 11 and 12 in Olds.

Mengersen believes the number of athletes who participated is at least on par with previous years, if not more.
