Olds area player named Lineman of the Game

Olds-area athlete Nils Haeni was named Lineman of the Game for the South team during the annual Senior Bowl, which serves as a high school football all-star game. Haeni, 18, a defensive end, lives on a farm east of Olds.

Olds-area athlete Nils Haeni was named Lineman of the Game for the South team during the annual Senior Bowl, which serves as a high school football all-star game.

Haeni, 18, a defensive end, lives on a farm east of Olds. He played minor football in Olds but now goes to high school in Didsbury.

The Grade 12 student has been playing football since he was in Grade 5.

The South team won the game, beating the North 38-23 May 22 in Edmonton. It was the fourth time in a row the South had beaten the North. The South now leads the series 16-12-1 since the Senior Bowl was first held in 1990.
