OLDS — Two five-pin bowlers from Olds are preparing for the 55+ Canada Games, which will be held Aug. 23-26 in Kamloops, British Columbia.
Helen Jorgensen and Bill Clancy qualified for the competition by winning gold and silver respectively during the 55+ Winter Games, held in Edmonton, April 7-10. Gordon Taylor placed fourth and Les Markham of Carstairs finished in fifth place.
Another team member, John Tarapaski was unable to make the trip.

April 7, the first day of the competition, was Green Shirt Day, a day to encourage people to sign donor cards to donate their organs when they pass away.
Jorgensen wore a pin throughout the Edmonton competition in memory of the Boulets of Olds and Lethbridge and Green Shirt Day.
It honours the memory of Logan Boulet, the grandson of Roland and Angelina Boulet of Olds. His parents, Bernadine and Toby, live in Lethbridge.
Logan was one of 16 members of the Humboldt Broncos Junior A hockey team who died as a result of a collision with a semi-trailer north of Saskatoon on April 6, 2018. He died on April 7.
Logan had asked that his organs be donated to others, should he pass away.
That wish was honoured and his organs were donated to six people. That in turn spurred a massive wave of people signing up to donate their organs, known as the Logan Boulet Effect.
Jorgenesen is very grateful for all the organizers who made the 55+ Winter Games possible and for the meals and entertainment they provided for more than 1,100 participants.
