OLDS — The Olds Bantam Bulldogs have some extra time to improve their skills this week.

They were scheduled to face the Carstairs Tigers at home on Friday, Oct. 11, but Bulldogs head coach Matt Sutherland says that game was cancelled because the Tigers had to forfeit.

The Bulldogs’ last game action occurred Oct. 5 in Strathmore when they took on the Badgers. Sutherland says they won that game in "lopsided" fashion, however, the score was not revealed.

“Strathmore played their hearts out, but unfortunately they had a short bench, due to some previous injuries,” Sutherland wrote in an email. “It was a learning opportunity for both teams.”

Sutherland was happy with the performance of his team in all facets: offence, defence and special teams.

“Due to the nature of this game, everyone stepped up and took advantage of various opportunities and did a great job,” Sutherland wrote.

Extra Point

Sutherland says a Bulldog player who suffered a head injury during a game in Ponoka a couple of weeks ago is recovering well.

“He sustained a concussion, so he is currently in our concussion protocol and we look forward to having him back playing as soon as we can,” he wrote.
