OLDS — The 2024 Olds Golf Club champions have been determined after the club held its annual championship Aug. 17-18.
On the men’s side, Tim Hollman is the overall men's champion, Robert Weseen is the overall senior men's champion and Keith Newton is the overall super senior men's champion.
On the ladies’ side, Jenny Lee is the overall ladies' champion, Cathy Spicer is the overall senior ladies' champion and Tina Machan is the overall super senior ladies' champion.
Wyatt McDonald is the overall junior champion.
On the men’s side, Hollman shot a two-round gross total of 146 (72,74), beating Alan Brett by four strokes. Brett carded 150 (74,76).
Jordan Sayler had the top men’s net score: 139 (67,72),
Weseen edged out Mike Dezall for the senior men’s championship with a gross score of 148 (73,75). Dezall finished just three strokes behind with a total of 151 (76,75). Dean Bracken was listed in second with a two-round total of 154 (79,75).
Overall super seniors men’s champ Keith Newton fired a gross score of 150 (76,74). Darren Quilley finished 11 strokes behind at 161 (81,80). Colin McBride was listed second. He shot a total of 168 (87, 81).
Dezall had the highest senior men’s net score:141 (71,70). Weseen shot a net score of 144 (71,73). Mark Schultz was listed second in the net category with a score of 147 (75,72).
On the ladies side, Lee shot 151 (74,77). In second place was Jocelyn McInnis, who shot 162 (80, 82).
Lee also won the net category with a score of 141 (69,72). Cathy Spicer was listed right behind with a net score of 147(73,74).
Spicer was named the overall senior ladies' champion after shooting a gross total of 163 (81,82). Her nearest competitor in the championship flight was Sydney McInnis, who shot 167 (80,87).
Tina Machan, the overall super senior ladies’ champion, fired 173 (86,87).
The Junior competition was held for just one day.
Overall junior champion Wyatt McDonald, shot a gross total of 85 (45,40). Andrew Pieper shot a total of 86 (42,44) and Hunter McDonald fired a total of 101 (50,51).
Pieper had the best net score. Wyatt McDonald and Hunter McDonald finished second and third in that category.
