OLDS — The Olds Grizzlys’ exhibition begins Wednesday as the team hosts the expansion team Devon Xtreme.
Game time is 7 p.m. at the Sportsplex.
The Olds-based Alberta Junior Hockey League team plays a total of six games this exhibition.
In addition to the Xtreme, the team faces off against the Canmore Eagles and the Drumheller Dragons.
Then the regular season begins Sept. 13 and 14 when the Grizzlys play a home-and-home series with the Dragons.
Brad Tobin was announced last week as the team's head coach after the team "mutually parted ways" with Peter Schaefer who was hired as head coach at the end of May. Schaefer replaced former head coach Scott Atkinson
Meanwhile, the club held its annual Black and Gold intersquad game on Sunday.
Admission was by a donation to the Mountain View Emergency Shelter Society in support of the emergency shelter, called Kirsten’s Place. It’s currently under construction in Olds and expected to be completed later this fall.
