OLDS — The 2024-25 edition of the École Olds High School wrestling team is gearing up for its first tournament.
It will be held the last weekend of the month in Edmonton.
“The wrestling team is composed of mainly newbies this year. We had some experienced wrestlers decide to move on to other things and are no longer on the team,” head coach George Grant wrote in an email.
“With all the new members, we have had to delay our first tournament until the end of January, in Edmonton.”
This year’s squad has two girls and six boys who Grant says are turning out for practice “on a consistent basis.”
“This year’s group is very raw but eager to improve and build trust in themselves,” he wrote. “There is a lot of promise right now and we hope to build upon the base and get ready for our first tournament.”
