OLDS — More than 100 kids have signed up for Olds Minor Lacrosse this year, approaching double last year’s registration of 58 and about at pre-pandemic levels.

“This year has been great,” Olds Minor Lacrosse Association (OMLA) president Joe Berreth wrote in an email.

“We have over 100 kids signed up, which is awesome.”

As a result, this season, OMLA has a U7 team, two U9 teams, two U11 teams, a U13 team and a U15 team.

"This year we didn't make a U17 team but it looks good for next year,” Berreth wrote.

The 2023 season got underway Saturday, April 15 in Red Deer and other nearby communities.

Olds won’t be hosting any minor lacrosse tournaments this season, but “we are working at doing one next year,” Berreth said.
