Olds player, coach take part in new all-star football game

Although his team ultimately lost, Olds High School's Quade Smith made a huge play during the ABC Rising Star Border Bowl in Kelowna, B.C., on May 25.

The bowl between Alberta and B.C. is a new all-star game for Western Canadian rural high school football players in grades 10 and 11.

After both teams traded touchdowns in the very first minutes of the match, Quade, a Grade 11 student at the school, intercepted a pass and ran 75 yards for a touchdown, putting Alberta up 14-10 following the extra point.

Alberta was up 23-17 with a minute left in the first half before B.C. tied the game and went on to win the bowl 30-23.

Olds' George Grant was also part of the Alberta team's coaching staff.
