OLDS — A local man won three of seven categories in the Alberta Skeet Shooting Association's provincials.
Brad Semaka of Olds won the 12-gauge category (hitting 100 out of 100 targets) as well as the 20-gauge category and the doubles event.
Corbyn Charlton of Consort won the high overall and high all around categories as well as the .410 event.
Kelly Charanek of Calgary was named the 28-gauge champion.
The provincials were held June 18-19 at the Lone Pine Clay Target Club, located east of Olds.
During an interview, Semaka said he loves the interaction with fellow skeet-shooters.
He says it’s a great way to relax and unwind after work. Semaka worked as a motorcycle mechanic for about 30 years and now works for an X-ray company.
“It’s a relaxing sport,” Semaka said.
The Lone Pine Clay Target Club will be hosting the 2022 Western Canadian Skeet Championships July 22-24.
