Olds senior girls basketball coach describes team as 'quick, tough, defensive'

École Olds High School senior girls basketball team finished second in a tournament in November, but lost two games to tough 4A teams in early December

OLDS — École Olds High School senior girls basketball team head coach Leanne Haines-Doig is hoping to fit one more game before Christmas for the squad; hopefully some time this week.

“The league game has been set, but there may be some outside factors that cause it to be cancelled,” Haines-Doig wrote in an email.

The team opened its season by finishing second during a tournament in Rocky Mountain House the weekend of Nov. 26- 27.

Despite a short bench, the Spartans played two more games in early December.

“The team struggled to score but played very well and had a strong defensive showing in both games,” she wrote.

Haines-Doig says the squad consists of girls in grades 10 through 12 and “should be quick, tough, defensive team.”
