OLDS — École Olds High School Spartans football team is preparing to host their next opponent, the Bowness High School Trojans, today.
After that game, they’re on the road for the remainder of the month.
Head coach Kent Lorenz says his team is “well balanced” in all three facets of the game: offence, defence and special teams.
“We are working on skills and systems weekly to improve as a team,” he wrote in an email to the Albertan.
“The strength of our team so far this year has been the players’ commitment and work ethic.”
The Spartans’ last game was Friday in High River.
Before that, they lost a tough one 35-10 to Drumheller, their first loss of the season. That left them with a 2-1 record, heading into the High River matchup.
“Drum has a well coached disciplined team that deserved the win,” Lorenz wrote.
Looking ahead, Lorenz said the Bowness Trojans will be another “challenge” for the Spartans.
“In order for our team to compete we will need to execute and eliminate mistakes,” he wrote.
