OLDS — The École Olds High School Spartans football team is focusing on their next opponent, Carstairs Saturday, after losing 34-14 to Canmore last weekend.
That loss dropped the Spartans’ record to 3-2.
“At least until half-time, the game was a lot closer than the final score might indicate, head coach Kent Lorenz indicated in an email.
“(It was a) close game, tied at halftime,” he wrote.
Lorenz cited several factors that resulted in the loss.
They sustained some injuries that he said “changed the outcome of the game.”
Another factor was a strong Canmore defence.
“A few costly turnovers swung the momentum in the game,” he wrote.
Lorenz notes that the Oct. 5 game against Carstairs will be played in Didsbury. Kickoff is at 4 p.m.
