Masters competitions take place in age groupings spanning five years. At 36, Gordon competed in the 35- to 39-year-old class for the Edmonton Masters Swim Club.

"It was a blast. I had a lot of fun," he said.

On the first day of competition, he won gold in four events: 100-metre individual medley, 50-m freestyle, 100-m backstroke and 50-m breaststroke. He also won silver in the mixed four-by-50-metre medley relay and bronze in the four-by-50-m freestyle relay.

He won another three golds on the second day in the 200-m backstroke, 50-m butterfly and 50-m backstroke. His four-by-50-m men's medley relay team won silver.

Gordon spent the next week in Toronto to coach Rapids swimmer Angela Lowther at the Canadian Para-Swimming Trials.
