Out-of-towners win Seniors Open in Olds

OLDS — Two golfers from out of town won the HUB Seniors Open golf tournament June 12 at the Olds Golf Club.

In the men’s division (gross), Ken Griffith of the Red Deer Golf and Country Club (RDG&CC) fired a total two-under score of 70, beating Cliff Williamson of the Coyote Golf Course by two strokes.

In the ladies division (gross) Celina Lam of The Canal at Delacour Golf Club, who perennially seems to win every ladies competition in the area, won with a total gross score of 75, three over.

Lam beat Cathy Wood and Kristine Schultz of the Olds Golf Club who both finished with a score of 86, 14 over.  Wood was listed in second place.

In the men’s gross division, the best result by a local golfer was turned in by Robert Weseen of the Olds Golf Club, who finished in sixth place with score of 80.

In the men’s net division, Andrew Clark-Marlow and Peter Innes of the RDG&CC as well as Cliff Williamson of Coyote Creek all tied for top spot with a total net score of 73.

Clark-Marlow was ranked first and Innes second.

Matt Hoeg of the Olds Golf Club placed fourth with a total net score of 76.

In the ladies net division, Judy Thompson placed first with a total net score of 73, just edging out  Schultz and Lam, who finished with a total net score of 74. Shultz was listed in second place.

Christina Weseen of the Olds Golf Club was listed in third place with a total net score of 76.

Wendel Bistritan got a hole-in-one on hole 13. That enabled him to finish first low gross in the men's second flight.
