The Olds peewee Stingers finished in third place in the Central Lacrosse League Peewee Championship tournament, held June 21-23 in Stettler.

"The boys played great games all weekend and played amazingly in the bronze (medal) final," said Olds Lacrosse Association (OLA) spokesperson Gina Belcastro.

The Stingers downed the Kneehill Bulldogs 11-7 in the bronze medal final.

"They came out flying," Belcastro wrote in an email to the Albertan. They got up on the scoreboard quickly and played a strong defensive game to come out on top."

"Our two goalies were exceptional and they really played as a team. It was fun to watch and be a part of. It was nice to see them work as a team, as they have such a short period of time to work on new systems and develop strategies."
