The Travis Phillips rink from Sundre (Dale Phillips, Svend Neilsen and Bill Clancey) won the men's A event of the 37th annual Olds Farmers Bonspiel and Patti Gardner (Shaina Snyder, Dawnaca Martin and Kelly Kightly) won the A event of the 34th annual Olds Farmerettes 'spiel.
This is the sixth time the Phillips rink has won the Farmers 'spiel and it's the fourth time out of six years that the Patti Gardner rink has won the ladies bonspiel.
Organizing committee chair Gene Leonard says the two 'spiels, held Feb. 14-18 at the Olds Curling Club, went very well.
"We had the same amount of entrants as last year: 36 men and 20 ladies," he says. "The ice was great."
"All in all I would say it was a very successful week."
There'll be a new chair for the event next year. Koreen Morrison is taking over from Leonard, who has served as chair for four years.
"We'd like to sincerely thank all the sponsors and the curlers and everybody who participated," Leonard says.
