OLDS — The Lori Gans rink (Joanne Notley, Roxanne Knapp and Kathy Bennet) won the A side of the annual Olds Ladies Bonspiel, held March 1-3 at the Olds Curling Club.
B Event winners were Casey Leszynski, Lisa Schrader, Britni Smith and Robyne Davidson.
The Connie Strautman rink (Micheala Craig, Heather Noel and Gladys Jackson) won the C side.
“It was another successful ladies bonspiel again this year,” organizer Amy Venneman wrote in an email. “We had teams from Strathmore, Calgary, Carstairs, Sundre and Innisfail.”
This year’s event was down two teams from last year.
Venneman anticipates organizers will likely make an effort to get a couple of more rinks participating next year.
“I think we will just keep doing what we are doing and get the word out early again to try and bring a couple more teams from out of town to be able to enjoy the awesome facility we have in Olds,” she wrote.
Venneman said a couple of teams indicated the ice was “a bit challenging, but in a good way.”
Venneman is very grateful for all the sponsors who helped make the event a reality.
